One of my best friends recently became a distributor for Advocare. She has been a total inspiration to me; she has lost over thirty pounds, made the gym and healthy eating a (fun) habit, and is all around a happier person.
So naturally when she asked me to join her on the 24 Day Challenge, I was quick to jump on board and follow her lead.
With bikini season right around the corner, I decided this was the perfect time to put down the pasta, get off my ass, and be proactive about getting in shape. I looked at the 24 Day Challenge as a kick start to motivate me to get back into the gym.
I was hesitant going into this challenge at first, so when I was instantly seeing and feeling results I was hooked. Not only was I shedding pounds and getting my muscle tone back, I also had a shit ton of extra energy…and I was LOVING it (the miracle-worker Spark energy drink definitely played a part in that, too).
I was waking up at 7 AM on Saturdays (which is unheard of for me) to go to ‘Step and Sculpt’ classes at the Y, running instead of walking with my dog on the beach, and chugging water like it was whiskey on St. Paddy’s Day. I was kicking ass and forgetting names one day at a time.
The 24 Day Challenge is definitely a test of will power. If you want Advocare to work effectively you have to cut out sugar, white flour, alcohol, most diary, and any of the other crap that we fat Americans love. Lucky for me, I have always loved eating healthy, but with your boyfriend ordering pizza on Day 1 of your challenge and dangling chinese food in front of your face…you really see what you’re made of.
Despite the occasional french fry slip up, I was able to drop twelve pounds! Also not having one sip of alcohol for 23 days made my skin brighter/super hydrated, and my mind clear. Advocare reminded me of correct portion sizes, and also reminded me how amazing it feels to treat your body right. Through this challenge, I proved to myself that I can do anything I set my mind to.
This was not just a diet for me, but the beginning of a life change and healthier lifestyle. I would 100% recommend the Advocare 24 Day Challenge to anyone.
When I completed the challenge I decided to go to one of my Vegan friendly restaurants. My drink of choice was ‘The Gincident’ >>> Botantist Islay Dry Gin, Cocchi Americano, Bittermens Commonwealth Tonic Liqueur, Fresh Lemon, and Hopped Grapefruit Bitters, Topped with Soda on the Rocks <<< and for dinner I had a house made Vegetarian Black Bean Burger with a side of french fries. Surprisingly, having “real” food and booze for the first time in weeks wasn’t as satisfying as I had imagined it was going to be. The next day I went back to clean eats and a nice long gym sesh to make sure I stay on track.
